A total of 180 ceramic art works from both sides of the Taiwan Strait are on display, including not only contemporary ceramic art works, but also precious ceramic cultural relics. More than 70 artists from both sides of the Taiwan Strait exchanged ideas with each other, used ceramics as a medium to promote artistic and cultural exchanges between the two sides, and jointly inherited Chinese traditional skills and culture.
This exhibition is divided into three themes: "Inheritance of Miao Enlightenment", "Utensils to Convey the Way" and "Thousands of Cups and Ten Thousands of Cups". Among them, the "Utensils to Carry the Way" exhibition consists of five famous kilns in the Song Dynasty - Ru kiln, Guan kiln, Ge kiln, Ding kiln and Jun kiln. In history, the five famous kilns pioneered the "Utensils to carry the way" porcelain production. , is also an innovative practice under the cultural trend of the Song people of "learning from the past but not following the past".
Ye Guozhen, a master of Chinese ceramic arts and crafts, has devoted himself to studying the official kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty for 40 years. He is the representative inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage protection project of "Porcelain Firing Techniques of the Official Kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty". He said, "Chinese ceramic history, culture and art are a very important cultural bridge between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. Currently, the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have learned from each other in traditional ceramic production techniques. We hope that through in-depth and rich exchanges, we can promote innovation and cooperation in ceramic art."
The exhibition title "Thousand Cups and Ten Thousand Cups" comes from "Wine meets a bosom friend, a thousand cups are too few". The exhibition focuses on the cup creations of ceramic artists from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The categories on display include wood-fired, purple sand, celadon, underglaze blue and white, and overglaze. Painting etc. Among them, compared with the exquisiteness and luxury of porcelain, Taiwanese wood-burning works are more simple and natural, with a unique aesthetic.
"Wood burning is fired at high temperature with wood fuel. Its natural metallic luster and natural rough gray color have a very high artistic content. Taiwan's wood burning can be said to be the contention of a hundred schools of thought, which has led to the unique wood burning Collection trend." Qiu Yongxiang, honorary chairman of the Taiwan Ceramics Association, hopes that through this art exhibition, ceramics workers on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will understand wood-fired methods, share their experiences and experience with each other, and enjoy the fun of making ceramics.
Qiu Yufang, from Changhua, Taiwan, is a graduate student majoring in ceramics at the China Academy of Art. She is about to graduate and chose to start a business in Gongwang Cross-Strait Yuanyuan Garden, Fuyang. It is understood that this art exhibition is the theme event of the 2024 "Gongwang Fuchun" Cross-Strait Cultural Exchange Week.
